Completion of structural stabilisation works on slopes affected by the severe weather in January and February allows operations to resume at Casal de Espírito Santo, Casal de Santo António and Serpins stations.

Metro Mondego announces that Metrobus services between Lousã – Estação and Serpins will resume on 1 September 2026, following the completion of the slope stabilisation works at Kilometric Points (KP) 33+700 (Rogela) and KP 36+200 (Serpins), which led to the preventive suspension of services as a necessary safety measure.

Services on this final section of the line, approximately six kilometres long and comprising three stations, were suspended after Metro Mondego recorded geotechnical occurrences in the Metrobus corridor, affecting the company’s operations following the storms that hit the Central Region between January and February.

The slope stabilisation works, which began in March, represented a significant investment by Metro Mondego, which also ensured alternative bus services for the populations affected throughout the suspension period.

The intervention was carried out within the planned schedule and was accompanied by technical inspections to monitor the behaviour of the slopes, confirming that the safety conditions required for the resumption of operations had been restored.

With the reopening, the line will once again provide a full connection between Serpins and Coimbra, with the usual timetables and frequencies restored along the entire route. The alternative bus service will cease on the same date, making passenger transfers unnecessary.
