Following the progress of the construction work on the Portagem – Coimbra-B section of the Metrobus, carried out by Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), the connection between Av. Fernão de Magalhães and Avenida Marginal, in the area of ​​the old Choupal tunnel, will be reopened next Tuesday, May 19th.

With the definitive opening of this connection, the two temporary detours that currently connect Avenida Marginal to Rua Padre Estevão Cabral and Rua Pinto dos Santos will be eliminated.

The conversion of the Choupal Tunnel underpass into a road grade passage will improve traffic flow between Avenida Marginal and Avenida Fernão de Magalhães, thus contributing to the modernization and functionality of the city.

The Açude station will be located in this area, serving the northern part of Avenida Fernão de Magalhães and Choupal, as well as functioning as a modal interface with other public transport, including SMTUC.
