Metro Mondego and Infraestruturas de Portugal inform that the works on the Serpins – Portagem section, as well as the installation of all equipment and systems, will be completed by the end of June. The buses, as well as the drivers and traffic regulators necessary for the smooth running of the operation, will also be available.
In order to ensure that the entire system complies with legal and approval requirements and ensures passenger safety during commercial operation, a series of tests and analyses will need to be carried out in the third quarter leading to the final certification of the system. Therefore, the Serpins – Portagem section of the Mondego Mobility System will enter commercial operation in the fourth quarter of this year.
It is also announced that a preliminary daily operation is scheduled to begin at the end of August on the urban section between Alto de São João and Portagem, offering a free service to all passengers wishing to travel on this route.
Demonstration trips are also scheduled for the weekends in August to allow passengers to have their first experience. These trips will be operated between the stations of Lousã and Serpins, between Miranda do Corvo and Lousã and between Alto de São João and Portagem.
