Road traffic disruption on the lower deck of the Ponte Açude bridge

As part of the ongoing construction work on the Portagem – Coimbra-B section of the Metrobus, undertaken by Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), road traffic will be restricted on the lower deck of the Ponte Açude bridge starting Monday, March 30th, with its reopening scheduled for April 10th.

The traffic restrictions implemented during this phase of work have been planned to coincide with the usual period of reduced road traffic in the city, resulting from the interruption of school activities during the Easter holidays.

The traffic restriction on the lower deck of the Ponte Açude bridge is due to the need to continue the construction of the rainwater collection system for Águas de Coimbra and urban improvements on the right bank of the Mondego River, next to the Portuguese Environment Agency.

Pedestrian traffic between the two banks will continue to be possible via this route, with road traffic being ensured by the upper deck of the Ponte Açude bridge.

Metro Mondego and the Municipality of Coimbra appeal to the public to understand the temporary inconveniences that this phase may cause, reaffirming that these works are contributing to the modernization and functionality of the city.
